SUSTAINABILITY

At Blue Sky Services we define Corporate Social Responsibility as ‘acting with good intentions’ and doing the ‘right thing’. Doing the right thing means consistently doing a great job whilst making a meaningful contributing to economic and environmental sustainability- for us the two are not separate.


Due to the nature of our business or impact might be small but we think big and set targets for social and environmental investments and initiatives which are reflected in our Corporate and Social Sustainability Plan. The progress of our CSR Plan is monitored through internal audits and external audits of our Quality Management System ISO9001:2015, Environmental Management System ISO14001:2015 and Occupational Health & Safety Management System and is AS/NZS 4801:2001

Social employment opportunities

Blue Sky Services currently work with employment agencies such as CGVT Australia, MAX Employment and AXIS Employment to identify employment opportunities for disadvantaged people from diverse communities which may include, Indigenous peoples, ethnic cultural groups, demographic (age related and gender-based) groups, long term unemployed.


We have employed some wonderful people from these communities who work on council contracts, cleaning community centres and in hospitals and take immense pride in seeing them flourish.

Social Procurement

Blue Sky Services is committed to ethical, sustainable, and socially responsible procurement. We recognize the need to ensure our procurement practices achieve best practice principles including value for money, open and fair competition, accountability, risk management, probity, and transparency.


Our Business Code of Conduct, Corporate and Social Responsibility Policy and Modern Slavery Policy outlines the minimum ethical standards of behaviour for our business. These standards go beyond our employees and our business and extend to our suppliers and sub-contractors.


We refer to Victoria’s Social Procurement Framework for guidance on how we can embed social and sustainable procurement into our supply chain processes. Blue Sky Services plays an integral role in the Victorian Social Procurement approach by purchasing goods or services from social enterprises or business which support social enterprises, Australian Disability Enterprises, Aboriginal businesses, members of the Supply Nation and local businesses.

Community and Philanthropic Activities

Blue Sky Services contributes to the quality of life of our local communities by supporting innovative programs in health, education, social services, cultural and civic projects as well as environmental projects. Our contributions include joining associations, donations, volunteering services and allocating resources supporting community development endeavouring to provide employment and economic opportunities within communities of operation.

Environmental Sustainability

Blue Sky Services has a strong and well-articulated commitment to environmental protection and stewardship recognizing key sustainability factors such as pollution prevention, waste management, biodiversity, resource conservation and effective integration of these concepts into our business decision making processes to reduce our carbon footprint. This commitment is reflected in our Environmental Clean and Green Program and our Environmental targets.


Some of our current environmentally sustainable practices at Blue Sky Services include use of eco certified cleaning chemicals, purchasing 100% of toilet paper, hand towels and bin liners made of recycled products, use of water saving equipment such as the i-Mop, purchasing carbon offset credits, providing our customers with cleanings systems which clean and disinfects without the use of chemicals.


Taking a partnership approach with our customers and working with them, not for them is essential as we are in a unique position to be able to find ways to helps our customers find solutions to their environmental business targets and imperatives. We believe this is exactly what sustainability is about- working together so our customer’s targets become our targets.
